Year 5 Football Tournament

Date: 9th Feb 2022 @ 5:09pm

Year 5 Football Tournament

Today, year 5 and two pupils from year 4 participated in a football tournament. The children were respectful, showed good sportsmanship, manners and displayed plenty of footballing talent. After only losing one match in the group stages, we progressed to the semi-finals. We won the semi-final match after a fantastic goal from Nathan. Unfortunately, the final didn't go the same way and the children finished in second place! However, the children should be so proud of themselves after a fantastic effort all afternoon.

Coming second out of sixteen other schools is something to be extremely proud of!

Read Aloud Day

Date: 2nd Feb 2022 @ 6:58pm

Today is World Read Aloud Day! We read our guided reading texts aloud and watched a news report about a six year old girl from Liverpool who has had her own story book published.  We enjoyed listening to her read an extract of her story 'Destiny and the Troll'

At story time we enjoyed listening to a story being read by one of our class mates!

In our history lesson a reading leader was chosen for each group.  We had to listen to the statements as our reading leader read them aloud, then we worked together to decide if the statements were true or false.  We found out lots of interesting facts about George Stephenson by reading all about him and his great invention 'The Rocket'.
