HEALTH AND WELL-BEING WEEK 2019
Health and Well-being is a key priority at Lyme. We want our children to be educated about the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle which supports them physically and mentally.
During Health and Well-being Week we have organised a wide variety of activities to immerse the children in knowledge and experiences. This has included:
*Yoga sessions led by a parent (YN-Y6)
*Food tasting - supported by donations from our local Tesco (YN-Y6)
*Digital Well-being activities led by our chair of governors (Y3-Y6)
*Risk assessment talk led by one of our parent governors (Y5-6)
*PSCO talk on safety, road and rail (YN-Y6) and knife crime (Y5-6)
*Fire service visit - safety, their role in the community (YN-YR)
*Dentist visit - the importance of keeping teeth clean (YN-Y2)
*Fitness session led by PE teacher from Hope Academy (Y3-Y6)
*Well-being session - importance of sleep; a balanced diet; exercise; activties with friends and positive words - led by an A-level student from Hope Academy (Y3-Y6)
*Tobacco Education workshop led by the City Health Care Partnership (Y4 and Y6)
*Drug and Alcohol Education workshop led by the Substance Misuse Team (Y6)
*Basic First Aid training with St. John's Ambulance (Y3 and Y6)
*Road safety (Y1 and Y2)
*Scooter lessons (YR-Y6)
*Inflatable obstacle course (YN-Y6)
*Mindfulness activities in class - using colouring and music to provide a calm environment
*NSPCC - 'Pants' lessons on staying safe
*PATHs lessons in class - promoting alternative thinking strategies
*Activities led by class teachers on health and well-being
In addition to this, the children have participated in the following assemblies:
*Importance of health and well-being delivered by our PE Lead and Sports Council
*Mental Health led by our Pastoral Manager
*Spirituality as a support for developing a positive mindset led by Reverend Hall
*Positive mindset led by Tara Jones, St Helens RLFC player, England RL player and referee
