What helps us to stay healthy?

Date: 12th Jan 2022 @ 4:09pm

Today we have been learning about staying healthy and the importance of washing our hands.

We have taken part in a 'germ experiment' to understand how germs spread - especially if we do not wash our hands.

Some of the children said:-

* Germs can make you sick.
* Germs can make you ill.

We now understand how easily germs spread and why it is important to wash our hands.

We have learned lots of different skills in art this half term: using a variety of media (pens, pencils, paints, pastels) and skills (drawing, painting, colour mixing and printing. We have also looked at the work of the artist Louis Wain and thought about what it would be like if we 'jumped' into a piece of his work - we used the FANTASTICS to talk about what we would be able to see, hear, touch and feel; we then predicted what might happen next.

Multiplication facts - 3's, 6's and 9's

During our maths lessons this week, Year 4 have been explictly learning about the 3 times table, the 6 times table and the 9 timestable. We have looked at different strategies when working out our answers. This can involve different timestables that we are more confident with such as using the 3's to help work out the 6's and the 10's to help work out your 9's.

Today, we used those strategies to play multiplication board games. The board games only had the 3, 6 and 9 timestables on them in order to help the children practice.
