European Day of Languages competition

Well done to all the children who entered Miss. Mee's European Day of Languages poster competition. It was really tricky to pick one as everyone had tried so hard! Our winners were chosen for their bright and colorful designs and how they had celebrated the unity of languages. Their posters will now be sent into the national competition

Today, Year 3 made dirt puddings to help them to learn and remember the different layers of the soil and Earth.
Red sauce = the mantle, inner core and outer core.
Biscuit = the Earth's crust
Apple pieces = bedrock
Chocolate mousse = subsoil
Crushed oreos = topsoil
A delicious way to bring our science learning to life!

🍕 Little Pizza Chefs! 👩🍳👨🍳
Our Nursery children had lots of fun making their own pepperoni muffin pizzas! 🍕 They carefully spread the tomato sauce, sprinkled on the cheese and added their toppings.
We developed our fine motor skills, followed instructions and practised using lots of new vocabulary. The children were very proud of their delicious creations! 😋👏

Year 3 imagined that they had been transported back to the Stone Age. They took on the role of hunter-gathers and explored the school grounds to find things that they could use to help them survive. They collected stones, mud, twigs and leaves and used them to make their own paints and make marks like the stone age people used to do to decorate their caves.

In Nursery, we love using Tales Toolkit to help us become confident storytellers! Tales Toolkit uses simple story symbols to help children understand the different parts of a story – the character, setting, problem and solution. We enjoy using objects, pictures and our imaginations to create and tell our own stories together. We also draw the different parts of our stories, helping us to develop our vocabulary, speaking and listening skills, creativity and early mark-making.

Our Reading Ambassadors will now be running our School Library! Children can choose to change their book each week or keep it for a week.

We are really pleased with our new colour scheme across school. Everyone looks so smart in their purple and black active uniforms! We have also had lots of positive feedback from the children about our new indoor sensory circuits.

Our First Few Weeks in Nursery

Our Nursery children have made a fantastic start to the new school year! They are settling in really well, becoming familiar with our routines and beginning to form lovely friendships. The children have been busy exploring all the different areas of Nursery, discovering their favourite places to play, learn and create. It has been wonderful to see so many happy faces as they grow in confidence and independence each day. We are very proud of them all!

This morning, we had a very exciting visit to Nursery from Acorn Farm. Hariette and Phil brought 2 goats, 2 guinea pigs, 2 chickens, a white rat and a fluffy rabbit...not forgetting a naughty sheep called Bobby (who escaped from the playground and went off to join the whole school Zumba on the big field! )The children were very kind and gentle as they held, stroked and even fed the animals. We are very proud of them all and their impeccable behaviour throughout the experience!

Year 4 had a fabulous time at the Southport Eco Centre exploring their learning of rainforests around the world. There were interactive quizzes, a computer challenge, a giant game of 'Snakes and Lianas' and an immersive suite which brought the rainforest to life. We were so impressed with their knowledge and they were fantastic ambassadors for our school.
