We look forward to reading the new books once they arrive.

Here are some of the things that the children said they enjoyed about the festival:

'I liked tackling and pushing people over'

'I liked it when we played a mini game of rugby and we had to score.

'I liked it when we jumped over the hurdles and we had to lie on the floor. It was funny'

Sean Perkins visits Lyme!

Date: 19th Apr 2023 @ 3:30pm

This afternoon author Sean Perkins visited Lyme to share his latest book with us 'Oscar and Ben - The Birthday Party'.

Sean introduced the children to the main characters Oscar and Ben but first they had to wake them up from their sleeping bag. Once the cats Oscar and Ben were awake they sat in our classroom and listened to the story too!  Oscar and Ben ventured into the forest to celebrate the birthday of their good friend Mrs Hen.

The story was exciting and entertaining and Sean even added special sound effects.  At the end of the session Sean played his guitar and we sang a song about the story.

The children's faces lit up during the story telling session showing us that our children really do share a love of reading.  Thank you to Sean for providing our youngest children with such a memorable learning experience.

They brought with them exapmles of Tudor dress and items of food and medicines from these times. As well as this, they had a wealth of information around this historic period. The children clearly enjoyed the stories and gruesome facts; they were engaged and superb role models for our school. They also got to make pomanders; small scented oranges that the Tudors used to keep them safe and mask all the vile smells there would have been at the time.

Ramadan

Date: 27th Mar 2023 @ 2:31pm

Ramadan

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims won't eat or drink during the hours of daylight. This is called fasting. Children are not expected to fast until they reach the age of around 13/14. However, one of the children in Year 4 has made the incredibly mature choice to fast this year. We are all very proud of Mikaeel's dedication and I am really pleased with how supportive the class has been with him during this time.

Today, Mikaeel decided to challenge Year 4 to resist temptation just like he must do every day. He placed sweets into small envelopes with everyone's name on them and told everyone that they must try to resist temptation until 7.36PM (the time of sunset today).

Hopefully, everyone is able to resist in support of Mikaeel!

*Can people with longer arms throw further?

We worked in small groups to plan and carry out our investigation. Next week we will be using a spreadsheet on Purple Mash to create a graph of our results and then writing our conclusion in an email to Mr. Leather (our PE Leader).
