Covid 19

Health Protection:

The approach to managing Covid in education and childcare settings now considers Covid as one of many respiratory illnesses. Universal Covid-19 testing ceased on the 1st April. This brings education and childcare settings into line with general population guidance.

There are actions we can all take to help reduce the risk of catching Covid-19 and passing it on to others. These actions will also help to reduce the spread of other respiratory infections, such as flu, which can spread easily and may cause serious illness in some people.

  1. Get vaccinated
  2. Let fresh air in
  3. Remember the basics of good hygiene
  4. When to consider wearing a face covering or a face mask

At the beginning of term on the 25th April, mainstream childcare and education settings are expected to manage Covid as an Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), in line with other infectious diseases. Management of Covid as an ARI has now been incorporated into health protection guidance for managing cases of infectious disease: health protection in schools and other childcare facilities guidance.
